This solution meets the stringent requirement of European Union regulation 2024/573, which restricts the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases on electrical networks.
As utilities and industries accelerate the transition towards more sustainable energy infrastructures, the demand for alternatives to fluorinated gases used in electrical equipment continues to grow, driven by evolving environmental regulations and decarbonisation targets. With the certification of evoFIX®, Efacec reinforces its positioning as a technology partner for next generation power distribution networks.
Developed for secondary distribution applications, evoFIX® combines technical performance, operational safety and environmental sustainability in a solution designed to meet different grid and installation requirements.
The system uses dry air insulation at low pressure and vacuum interruption, eliminating the need for fluorinated gases traditionally used in this type of equipment. A key differentiating feature is Efacec’ s proprietary three-position switch design, with current interruption ensured by a vacuum interrupter (Shunt VI).
The evoFIX® switchgear offers ratings up to 24 kV, 630 A and a short-circuit current of up to 20 kA, while maintaining dimensions comparable to conventional SF₆-based solutions. The product is available in compact, extensible and modular configurations to support different grid applications and installation requirements.
As part of the qualification process, the equipment successfully passed a full set of certification tests in accordance with IEC 62271 standards, including dielectric, temperature rise and short- circuit tests. Internal arc classification tests were also performed, insuring operator safety and service continuity.
These tests were conducted in ISO 17025 accredited laboratories including KEMA Labs, an internationally recognised independent testing and certification body, reinforcing the reliability and robustness of the solution.
With this certification, Efacec continues to expand its portfolio of sustainable medium-voltage solutions, supporting utilities and industrial customers in the transition towards safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible electrical networks.
