Efacec ready to empower the grid at CIRED 2025

From June 16 to 19, Efacec will showcase its latest Switchgear, Automation and Transformer technologies at CIRED, taking place at Palexpo Genève.

Following the successful presence in 2023, Efacec returns to CIRED in 2025, one of the world’s most important conferences for electricity distribution, taking place from June 16 to 19 at Palexpo Genève, Switzerland. As the industry’s most influential platform to showcase innovation and share knowledge, CIRED brings together professional from across the sector to explore cutting-edge solutions for energy systems.

At this year’s event, the Portuguese company will highlight its latest Switchgear, Automation  and Transformers technologies, designed to accelerate the energy transition and support a smarter, more sustainable and even more resilient grid.

One of the highlights at Booth Q7 will be evoFIX, Efacec’s new SF₆-free medium voltage secondary distribution switchgear of up to 24 kV. Standing out for its compact and modular design, evoFIX is an eco-friendly alternative to conventional RMUs, using natural-origin gases and dry-air insulation to minimise carbon footprint and ensure compliance with the latest European Union’s F-gas regulation – but the best way to get to know the product is by visiting Efacec at CIRED.

As for Automation, Efacec will present its extensive portfolio of solutions for the advanced supervision, control, and protection of distribution networks, potentiating decentralised solutions that can adapt to the evolution of the smart grid. This includes the open and scalable ScateX# ADMS, the flexible UC 500 and HMI 500 station and HMI servers, the versatile multifunction Protection and Control IEDs from the 430 series, the compact MCU 500 merging unit, and finally the all-in-one engineering tool environment, Automation Studio.

Designed to address the increasing complexity of smart grids, these solutions support real-time monitoring, grid resilience, DER integration and enhanced cybersecurity, enabling utilities to operate more efficiently and face the evolving challenges of the Automation landscape.

Efacec’s participation will also focus on knowledge exchange, with the presentation of technical papers during the conference, contributing to discussions on grid innovation and the future of energy distribution in Europe:

  • Poster 390, June 18 | 14:30 – 16:00 CET: Algorithms for intermittent fault detection with high-impedance neutral-to-ground regimes (presented by partners);
  • Poster 963, June 19 | 11:00 – 12:30 CET: Improved ADMS with an operator friendly interface (presented by partners);
  • Poster 873, June 19 | 14:30 – 16:00 CET: Renewable energy management systems – methodological aspects for active power control (presented by José Simões, from Efacec’s Automation solutions area)

This complements the company’s broader role in the energy distribution ecosystem, where transformers play a vital part. With over 75 years of experience, Efacec supplies eco-friendly transformer solutions to major European utilities, supporting the reliable and sustainable operation of distribution networks alongside its switchgear and automation solutions.

Attendees are invited to visit Efacec at Booth Q7 to discover its innovative Automation, Transformers and Switchgear solutions, including the new SF₆-free evoFIX and the most recent advances in grid management, as well as connect with the company’s experts by scheduling a meeting in advance right here.
