Efacec has been awarded a major contract worth over 50 M€ by Red Eléctrica, Spain’s Transmission System Operator, to supply power transformers for the country’s transmission network until 2027. The agreement reinforces Efacec’s long-standing presence in Spain and highlights its ability to deliver technically demanding solutions for critical grid infrastructure.
Under the contract, Efacec will design, manufacture, deliver, and provide full support for a range of transformers tailored to Red Eléctrica high-voltage network. Building on Efacec’s long standing relationship with Red Eléctrica, the company recently delivered a 500 MVA, 420 kV multi-voltage power transformer. This versatile transformer operates as a strategic reserve unit, enhancing network reliability and operational safety.
Efacec was selected following a comprehensive and highly competitive evaluation that recognized its engineering expertise, experience with high‑power transformers, and ability to manage complex logistics and on‑site assembly. The company will apply advanced engineering and eco‑design methodologies, supported by stringent quality standards, to optimize performance, enhance reliability, and ensure long-term value across Red Eléctrica transmission infrastructure.
This agreement builds on Efacec’s strong track record across Europe. Spain remains a strategic market, where Efacec continues to strengthen long-term partnerships with transmission and distribution system operators, supporting the resilience and development of the country’s electricity infrastructure.
