Efacec has been selected to develop and supply turnkey solutions in the heavy rail sector, as part of the extension of the Lisbon Metro Red Line between São Sebastião and Alcântara.
The contract now awarded, Efacec’s largest ever in the railway and metro sector in Portugal, includes the design and construction of traction power, low voltage, ventilation, pumping, SSIT and CCTV systems, showcasing the trust shown by the Portuguese market in the quality of the company’s engineering.
The joint venture – formed by Mota-Engil and Spie Batignolles, responsible for the general construction of the Red Line extension – has placed its trust in the company for this important subcontract, reinforcing its participation in the Lisbon Metro expansion project, a client that already has Efacec products and solutions in a wide range of technological areas.
Efacec’s partnership with Mota-Engil and Metro de Lisboa goes back several decades, with the company based in Arroteia, Matosinhos, having been responsible for developing all the traction substations currently in operation.
Also worth highlighting is the power telecontrol system for the entire metro network which, along with several other systems, has been supplied and installed by the company, both as part of networks expansions as well as renovations and improvements to the systems in operation.
